(          )는 내가 만든 단어다. 2025년 어느 날 집에서 내 작업실인 노란 컨테이너로 운전해 오던 길에 문득 떠올랐다.

어느 순간부턴가 그림이 잘 안 그려졌다. 그럴 때 스스로에게 말했다. "니가 무슨 피카소라고. 그냥 손을 움직여." 그 순간 오히려 마음이 차분해졌다. (          )는 그 마음 상태를 대변하는 주문 같은 것이다.

굳이 왜 이런 여성의 이름형으로 단어를 떠올렸는지는 모르겠다.

또한 (          )는 내가 대학 시절 읽은 문구를 연상시킨다. "Feet in the mud, head in the stars."

누가 한 말인지도, 책 제목도 이제는 기억나지 않지만 그 문장은 나에게 주문처럼 지금까지 남아있다.

이유는 설명할 수 없지만 나에게 (          )는 그 문구와 굉장히 닮아 있다.

그래서 우편함을 열면 [ ]이 있다.

(          ) is a word I made up. One day in 2025, it suddenly came to me while I was driving from home to my studio — the yellow container.

At some point, drawing stopped coming easily to me. When that happened, I would tell myself, “You are not Picasso. Just move your hand.” Oddly enough, that thought calmed me down.

(          ) is the spell that holds that feeling.

I'm not sure why the word took the shape of a woman's name.

(          ) also reminds me of a phrase I came across back in college: "Feet in the mud, head in the stars." I no longer remember who said it, or what the book was called — but the line has stayed with me like an incantation. I can't explain why, but (          ) feels very much like that phrase to me.
